Social events and food at ASBHM2019

ASBHM2019 is almost upon us so it’s time for a conference update. This post has lots of information about social events and catering at ASBHM2019 including how to register your dietary requirements, the conference dinner, and early career and student networking events.

Tell us about your dietary requirements

Conference registration fees include afternoon tea on Wednesday, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea on Thursday, and morning tea and lunch on Friday. The welcome and farewell receptions are also included. Please make sure you tell us if you have any dietary requirements so we can make sure we have food for everyone to enjoy. Register your dietary requirements using this form this form or send us an email at admin@asbhm.com.

Please note that the venue has requested that all dietary requirements are registered by February 7th.

Register for the conference dinner

The conference dinner is a fantastic opportunity to mingle with other delegates and our Keynote presenters in a casual environment.The dinner will be held at DuxDine on Thursday 14th of February at 7pm. The dinner costs AU $50 per person and is open to both conference delegates and non-attendees travelling with delegates.  

DuxDine (28 Riccarton Road, Christchurch) is located within easy walking distance of the hotel. We will be gathering at the entrance of the conference hotel (Chateau on the Park) at 6.45pm, or you can meet us at the restaurant at 7pm.

Are you an ECR or student? Come to the Peers Connect Social Event

The ASBHM Peers Connect group are hosting a social evening at the Fox and Ferrett at 6.30PM on the 13th of February.This is an excellent opportunity to meet other early career researchers and students attending the conference.Unfortunately, this is a non-funded event, so food and drinks must be self-funded.If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Chris (christopher.kilby@mq.edu.au) or Tamasin (tamasin.taylor@aut.ac.nz).

Students and ECRs might also want to register for the Peers Connect Mentoring Lunch

ASBHM Peers Connect would like to invite conference attendees who are currently studying a Masters or PhD, or who are within 5 years of graduating from a Masters or PhD to a mentor lunch being held during the ASBHM conference in Christchurch, NZ.Bring your lunch (and questions!) along to this excellent mentoring opportunity where attendees will be placed into small groups with leading academics attending the conference. This will be a rare opportunity for you to ask questions and learn from leaders in the field.Please think about any questions you would like to ask the mentors before the event, this way you can get the most out of your time with the mentors.
